{"id":9,"date":"2012-07-24T13:53:04","date_gmt":"2012-07-24T17:53:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saintpeters.edu\/health-services\/?page_id=9"},"modified":"2021-08-03T14:54:33","modified_gmt":"2021-08-03T18:54:33","slug":"health-insurance","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.saintpeters.edu\/health-services\/health-insurance\/","title":{"rendered":"Health Insurance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As a result of the Student Health Insurance Legislative S-2291 passage, New Jersey colleges and universities no longer require full time students to show proof that they are covered by health insurance policies; however, with the passage of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), all citizens must have insurance coverage through a PPACA compliance plan or they will be subject to tax fines beginning January 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Acceptable Insurance (PPACA approved) includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>parent\u2019s insurance plan<\/li>\n<li>an individual marketplace plan<\/li>\n<li>Medicaid, Medicare<\/li>\n<li>Tricare, veterans benefits and other government plans<\/li>\n<li>International plan with ACA comparable coverage (including evacuation and repatriation benefits)-<b>International Students only<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Plans are available through federal health care exchanges where you can compare coverage among a variety of insurance companies. \u00a0Students who wish to purchase health insurance are encouraged to visit the following federal exchange websites:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthcare.gov\">www.healthcare.gov<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cuidadodesalud.gov\">www.cuidadodesalud.gov<\/a> (Spanish)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/healthcare.gov\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/healthcare.gov<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebok.com\/healthcare.gov\">www.facebok.com\/healthcare.gov<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Apply by phone please call: 800-318-2596<\/li>\n<li>submit questions to: <a href=\"mailto:HHSORD2@hhs.gov\">HHSORD2@hhs.gov<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>Saint Peter&#8217;s University offers a\u00a0<\/span>student accident and injury plan.<span>\u00a0Assistance with filing a claim is available at the office during daytime business hours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The University will enroll all full-time students in our Student Accident and Injury Plan.
