JERSEY CITY, N.J.<\/strong> \u2013 Saint Peter\u2019s University welcomed members of the Grupo Latinoamericano de C\u00f3nsules (GLACO) – the Latin American Consular Corps of New Jersey, for a special visit with University President Hubert Benitez, D.D.S., Ph.D. and members of the University\u2019s leadership team, reinforcing the institution\u2019s commitment to serving and uplifting diverse communities across the region.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Consular representatives from Mexico, Guatemala and Colombia met with university leadership to discuss opportunities for broad collaborations, which included expanding access to higher education, strengthening pathways for Latin American students and families throughout New Jersey, and opening the doors for other collaborations in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur meeting with GLACO represents an important step forward in building meaningful partnerships that serve our broader community. At Saint Peter\u2019s University, we are deeply committed to supporting individuals and families whose voices and contributions enrich our region every day, said President Benitez\u201d. In addition, we are proud to open our doors to the consulates as an alternate and temporary location to provide essential consular services to the community, concluded Benitez.<\/p>\n

Marina Diaz, Head of Consul at the Consulate of Mexico in New Brunswick, stated, \u201cWe look forward to seeing how we can further build a relationship fostered in educational advancement right here in New Jersey.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luis O. DeLahoz, Chairman of the Board of the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey, stated, \u201cWe are grateful to Saint Peter\u2019s University for welcoming the general counselors of Latin America. Jersey City is home to a large Hispanic population and we look forward to strengthening our relationship between Saint Peter\u2019s and the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
